Even though the season didn’t end how the Greene County girls golf team would have hoped, they made a lot of progress throughout the season.
Last week, the Ram girls headed to Nishna Hills for their first round of post season play but unfortunately were unable to move on. They finished the day shooting 437 as a team which gave them a 10th place finish. The top two teams were Gilbert with a 299 and Nevada with a 348.
“It was difficult to find balls in the long rough today. We made a lot of progress this year as individuals and as a team. Hallie Monthei will be difficult to replace next year,” coach Heath Telleen said. “I am confident our returning four players will improve over the summer and we hope to recruit a few more athletes for next season.”
Results were: Maya Telleen, 100, 28th; Taylor Johnston, 105, 38th; Hallie Monthei, 110, 45th; Maggie Mikkelsen, 122, 57th; and Alivia Cornell, 129, 58th.
For Graci Cooklin, Hallie Monthei and Skylar Warnke, it was their last opportunity to golf for the Greene County Rams as they finished out their senior season. The Ram girls completed the year with a seventh place finish in the Heart of Iowa standings, something they will look to improve upon next year.
